This is a wonky episode of this web series about three roommates.

It swings from silly, over the top gags with no consequences (like putting Draino in a roommate’s eggs) to out-of-nowhere learning-and-hugging resolutions.

But here’s something interesting. I was scrolling through the comments on saw this one from cast member Evan Bass:

“@samdunhamss, a little after episode 10 came out, YouTube tried to buy the show and in order to bid low, YouTube shut off the viewer counter for the episodes. No new views have registered in over 2 years. - EvanBass” 8 Months ago.

What? Could this be true? I am not naive enough to think that YouTube is above reproach, but did they really game their own network to cheat a web series creator out of a sale price? That’s low, man. Even for a self interested corporation.

“How do you expect a girl to think you’re for real with a low budget My Space page like this?”

The guys decide on a two step plan to make Tom’s ex-girlfriend jealous. It involves My Space.

This episode is actually pretty funny, and a lot stronger than the last one, admittedly I watched it quite some time ago. What I like is that it keeps the story about the conflict between our main characters.

It’s a little on the long side – and they try to do the 80′s sitcom serious sweet moment. The funny stuff is pretty funny. The sorta serious stuff doesn’t click with me. But then, it usually doesn’t in sitcoms, either, some that’s probably just me.

I gave up on this series a little bit, and sorta forgot about it. But now I’ll make a point to keep watching.

The fellows go to a ‘Blue Party’ which, it turns out, is not a sex party. And apparently the most humiliating thing in the world is to take your top off at a party.

The first episode was way funnier. I suggest you skip this one and I’ll let you know when you can check back in.

Sometimes ‘fine’ isn’t enough.

So, I’ll start with the reasons to watch. There’s one… one and a half… very funny scenes where Rod (I think) freaks out on Tom (I think) for going after a girl that he called “squirrel” on. And this creates a somewhat abrupt cliffhanger that actually made me wonder what’s going to happen next. Nice job.

As to the negatives, I won’t dwell on them except to say that everything else about this inaugural episode is fine. The production is fine, the writing is fine, the acting (for the most part) is fine. The first half could be a little faster. The biggest problem is that ‘fine’… well… kinda boring.

Things really picked up in the second half, so maybe the rest of the series will do the same.

This episode raises a tough ethical question. Is it okay to go after a buddy’s “squirrel”? What about you gals? Is there a rule about a guy your BFF has her eye on?
