“You look thin. Have you been remembering to eat?”

Okay, 3 episodes in and were finally getting a hint as to what this web series is all about.

I think this show was written and shot as a feature and edited as a web series. The episode fades out at the end, seemingly in the middle of a line of dialogue.

Passenger is really slick – the lighting looks great. And there’s nothing really wrong with it… I’m a total jerk for saying this but it just isn’t that entertaining. The first two episodes were sustained bu nothing but mood, this one packs in a whole lot of exposition in very little story and tries to put all the weight of the scene on a hot chick who wants to sleep with the main guy (who happens to be the writer, director, producer, executive producer… you get the idea). Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with that, working on a web series budget you have to where a lot of hats.

The question becomes; are you doing it for your ego? Or are you doing it because that’s the only way you can get the damned thing done?

From KoldKast Description:

Michael meets his contact, Cherub Zoon, regarding orders for the termination of a ‘Slayer.’ The relationship between Michael and this superior agent is a long and strained one, as Zoon taunts and tempts Michael, before finally revealing the details of his mission.

“Don’t worry cowboy. I’m not going anywhere without you. This party is just getting started.”

Okay, so this is episode 2 of the series, and I still don’t know what’s going on. And nothing has happened.

The production quality, and what I can see of the acting is high, but the pacing of the story is slow slow slow. That’s not always a bad thing, but if you’re in episode two and you don’t even know what kind of show it is, I think that’s a problem.

It is all atmosphere and mood. It’s not really drawing me in. For one thing, there should be some reason that you framed this scene as an episode, not just you have hit a point in your story where there’s a bit of a cliffhanger and that’s your ending. If the scene even isn’t over, how can your episode be over?

That being said what they are doing they’re doing right. It is moody. It does create an atmosphere of tension. The lighting and, often the most overlooked part, sound recording is really nice.

I’m just not sure why I’m watching, or what I’m supposed to be waiting for, after two full episodes.

Michael receives cryptic messages or ‘Dream Transmissions’ of where to go to find his contact. This leads him to a deserted bar ran by two shady characters, Bucky and Burly. Chapter 1 – Episode 1

3 Swirlies

Hmm. This is my first experience embedding a video with the KoldCast player. Not bad. Plays smooth. Buffers fast.

This is the first episode of what I think is a new series. Found myself glancing at the timeline during the rather long opening credits sequence. On a bit of a “Grinds my Gears” note, I know that most of us doing web series do a whole whack of jobs to get the thing made. I actually commend that, as difficult as it is. But then, you don’t really need to load the credits with separate credits for everything you have done.

But… let’s actually talk about the episode, huh?

One thing I really liked is that there’s an angel wing motif, that’s nicely used. There’s a long scene with two red necks playing pool – it is essentially the whole episode – and in the wide shots one of them stands in front of some graffiti, which gives him angel wings. It’s nice.

This is another one of them opening episodes where it is almost more of a prologue than the start of the story. We barely see (what I assume is) the main character of the series. It seems like this series is going for a strong serialized arc. That’s trouble for web series, where audiences likely discover whatever random video and start watching from there.

I’m not being pulled in. As always, I’ll give you more of a watch/don’t watch opinion once I post episode 2. To be honest, I’m not even exactly sure what genre to put it in, as of yet.
