If you follow my reviews as The Watcher, you may have figured out that I tend to cheer for the little guys. Case in point: the cartoon web series Moolt.

I really like this series. I think the writing, voice work and animation is really great - especially for what I assume is some guy working alone in his room. This episode has 25,000 views at the time of this writing; hardly a complete unknown. Space Hospital, on the other hand, still has most of its episodes under a thousand. But still, Moolt’s the underdog compared to Happy Tree Friends. Everyone talks about Happy Tree Friends, despite Moolt being, in my opinion, the much funnier, fresher show.

Well, except maybe this episode. There’s some funny bits in there, but the main joke is the wife cleans up things and the husband doesn’t know where they are, and blames her when his computer goes missing. Not exactly breaking new comedic ground. Their other episodes are much funnier, and much more original. At least, to me.

Very short, funny animation about the saying “Get Back on the Horse.”

It can be hard to find the right length for your episode. It’s easy to stretch it out too long, and it’s easy to try to force brevity. This episode of weird animation web series Moolt is short, but just the right length.

What?

What a strange video. I have no idea what it is about, but it sure did make me laugh!

This is a series that was actually sent to me. The only one so far. The first one was okay, but this one is really funny – if totally random. Sure, there’s no story, but I had no idea what was going to happen next – in a good way. It’s good and surprising character humour, unlike Happy Tree Friends where it is nothing but a string of ways to hurt cute critters. (Not that Happy Tree Friends isn’t funny.)

Moolt is nicely animated, too. I kinda forgot about them after that first video, and I’m glad I decided to go back and check out more.

So far – this is turning out to be a pretty good week! The Friday Night Playlist should be jam-packed!

In this cartoon Abo tries to prank his brother Karo by dressing up as Lady Gaga and hiding in a cardboard box. He plans to jump out and sing Poker face when Karo gets home from work.

I’m excited! This is the first time anyone has actually sent me a video on YouTube.

Is it worth watching? Is it a hidden gem? Is it a fairly well known video that I’m embarrassing myself for never having heard of? Is it even a series? I have no idea. But I figured that i’m just lazy enough to write a post about it – sight as yet unseen – to encourage people to send me stuff instead of me having to hunt it all down.

Ready? Let’s watch!

“When Carlos comes home from work today, I will be inside a cardboard box, dressed as Lady Gaga. She gives Carlos night mares.”

This is some really nice, clean animation. Very nicely produced, with some good voice acting. It’s nice and short, and essentially one gag. There’s a few good jokes in there, mostly about Lady Gaga’s meat dress.

The gag is essentially an anti-climactic anti-joke kind of thing. I feel like this kind of thing is more funny to people telling the joke then the ones watching the joke. But still, I didn’t see it coming.

I’m undecided on whether this could be considered a series. I try to avoid sketch comedy on The Watch List. I try to focus on stuff with more continuity between episodes. But is this any different than Happy Tree Friends? I’ll post up a few more episodes and check back in with you guys.
