This is the “about” page for the Watch List, a web series review blog.

Right off the top, I’d like to be honest about something – this site is made by the people behind GopherX.net, a multi-platform series and transmedia production company. And while we do want you to watch our shows, we want you to watch other people’s, too.

And that what the Watch List is all about.

When I first started getting into web series, what I heard more than anything else was “How do I find web series?” And I would always answer that it can be hard. So I decided to do something about it.

The idea behind the Watch List isn’t to give people an up to the minute, this is the newest web series, new feed. And I wanted to do something that wasn’t just web series creators talking with other web series creators. As valuable as that can be, there’s plenty of places for that already. What I wanted was a place for audiences, a place that could take the work out of watching web series.

This blog is simply a place where episodes can be posted regularly, and people can check in on a daily or weekly basis – or whatever they want – and be introduced to episodes of web series that they might not have seen. We do try to keep a mix of brand new series and series that have been around for a while but I just found out about. We also aim to have around 3 new episodes posted every day. Sometimes we get busy in non-blog life things, but we try.

We do rate the episodes, but I urge you not to think of the ratings in the same way movies and TV shows are often rated. The idea is that if you have a slow buffering connection, how long should you wait for any particular episode to load? We rarely post an episode on here that we don’t think is worth watching at all. If your connection can handle it, watch ‘em all!

And every Friday we have the Friday Night Playlists! The idea is to create a lean back web series watching experience, featuring our favourite episodes from that week. When we feature an episode in one week’s Friday Playlist, we tend to continue featuring subsequent episodes from that series, but that’s not always the case. You may find a particular series comes and goes from the weekly Friday Playlists, although we try to keep in mind whether or not you’ll be totally lost if you haven’t seen the episodes previous.

There’s a few different ways that you can follow along with our postings. You can, of course, subscribe to the whole blog. Or you can simply subscribe to one portion of it. Only like the Friday Night Playlists? Just click the RSS button beside it’s category link on the right. Only like a particular show? Click it’s RSS link. You can do the same for a particular rating or genre or whatever your interest is! Fun, huh?

If you really like a show, you might not want to wait for us to post the next episode. There’s only so many episodes we can post each week, so sometimes even a web series we really like only gets an episode posted every couple of weeks, and if a web series isn’t one that we exactly adore, it can get crowded out by those we are more excited about. Again, the point of the site is to post web series that we like, and that we hope you will like. So ones we like more will get posted more regularly.

So if you find a show you like and you run out of episodes to watch here, just click on over to the show’s YouTube channel or website. We want you to watch more web series, we don’t really care if you watch them here or on the web series’ home page. Although we would appreciate it if you come back to check out more shows!

And we’re always looking for people who want to help our as reviewers! Want to pitch in? Drop us a line!

Thanks for visiting and happy web seriesing!
