So this episode does pick up right where the first one left off. It’ll end up essentially being a 15 minute short film when it is done. (If I have my math right.)

I’m still giving this web series 5 Swirlies, because it is really nicely done. But with 30 seconds, all you are left with is the twist/surprise ending. There’s not really much meat to it - how could their be? It’s not their fault they can’t fully develop a character in 30 seconds, so I’m trying to judge for for what it is, not for what it isn’t.

This is an interesting experiment in web series release and distribution. This series was heavily hyped through the usual channels. At least, that’s how I found it. Will the views continue to build as the web series goes on? Will it be able to retain its audience over the run?

One of the creators of Microwave Porn mentioned that each time they release an episode, around the three month mark there’s a sudden large upswing in views. They can’t figure out why, but it is always around month 3 after release.

This series turns both its schedule and length into its hook to get you to watch. I wonder, though, in a month it’ll be over. Sure, people will continue to come across it, and some may even love it… but by tying your content to your release, are you going to make late arrivals feel like they have missed out? Will they just watch the final short film? Or will they feel like they missed the party, watch one or two, and then move on? How will 31 The Series keep their content fresh after the month is up?
