Milk Men – A Mad Men Parody

Not the first the spoof Mad Men, but one of the best.

Sure, there’s been many parodies of Mad Men made, including Sesame Street. (Sidebar: When did Sesame Street start putting out press releases about it’s segments?) Milk Men is easily one of the funniest.

I usually try to stay away from fake trailers. They’re too easy, often just a series of jokes that only work because someone else created a moment good enough to stick in our collective memories. It’s much harder but more satisfying (for me) to make something that is original, funny and tells a good story.

But sometimes something comes along that lifts me from my curmudgeonly prejudices, but that’s exactly what Milk Men did. Smart and silly (a tough mix to get right), well casted and acted, shot as well as the actual Mad Men, Milk Men is well conceived and well executed.

There’s a couple of jokes that fell flat with me, but what I like about it is that it rose above the standard Mad Men parody level of “Oh, look we’re smoking!” And even when Milk Men did a few riffs on that theme they nailed it. Watch for the bit with the baby and the cigarette.

In fact, watch the whole thing.You won’t be disappointed.
